Police on Thursday said it registered a case against five alleged Over Ground Workers (OGWs), including brother of active Hizbul Mujahideen militant from Kishtwar.

A police official said security forces launched a crackdown in Marwah and other hilly areas of the district where Hizb militants, Muhammad Amin Butt alias Jahingir Saroori, Raiz Ahmed alias Hazazi, and Mudasir are believed to be hiding.

During the searches in Marwah, the police official said they learnt about the alleged role of five local youth in helping the militants in Kishtwar.“The hunt is on to arrest the five youth. Marwah police haveregistered a case and booked them,” said the police official.

He identified the booked persons as ZakirHussain, Muhammad Iqbal, Ghulam Hussain Lone, Muhammed Yaseen – all resident of Anyar, Marwah andBashir Ahmed of Renai in Marwah

The official said the case (FIR No. 1 of 2020) was registered under sections 18, 19, 20, 38, 39 of Unlawful Activities Act at police station Marwah.
